Helping more families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves and their children.

COMMITTEES

As a non-profit, our committees are key components in fundraising and overall awareness about Habitat’s mission - helping more families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves and their children.  We need your creative ideas, organizational skills and management skills to make that happen. FAMILY SELECTION

The Family Selection Committee is the heart of Habitat. This group reviews the applications for families applying to purchase homes from Habitat for Humanity of Washington County. Their goal is to determine (1) need for housing, (2) willingness to partner, and (3) ability to pay. To make this determination, committee members review files, interview applicants, and visit their homes. To learn more or to volunteer on the Family Selection Committee, contact Brandon Swoboda.

WOMEN BUILD

Over 90 percent of Habitat for Humanity of Washington County's homes are led by single mother heads of household. We participate in the Women Build program to highlight this staggering statistic and empower women by adding new skills to their tool belt. The Women Build program encourages women to build homes for themselves and for others, enabling them to positively impact the lives of children by making homeownership a present reality for families. When women come together in a supportive environment, they feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment and increased self-esteem. Women possess all that is needed to affect dramatic change in their communities. Through Women Build, we can train and equip women to work more effectively, helping Habitat increase its capacity and serve more families. To find out how you can be involved with the Women Build program, contact Brandon Swoboda.

HEELS & HAMMERS

This edgy evening is traditionally held in the summer and offers some of the hottest bites, swankiest sounds, and most sought after silent auction items in town.  It is a night to remember benefiting one of our most popular projects, the Women Build. With this charity event, we’ll work together to actively address the problem of families in substandard housing – one house and one family at a time. To find out how you can be involved with the Heels and Hammers charity event, contact Brandon Swoboda.

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that no one lives in dignity until everyone lives in dignity. We believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a safe, affordable place to call home. At Habitat, we’re dedicated to building homes, but we also build communities, and a sense of hope. We empower families to help themselves.

Your donation to Habitat for Humanity of Washington County will help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. They become healthier, have better educational opportunities, and better job prospects. Your support can help us do more in all the many ways that Habitat builds.
